“I thought of all the other invisible bodies, with their fists up, tucked away and out of sight” - Johanna Hedva, Sick Woman Theory.
A big inspiration for me during our process was Hedva’s Sick Woman Theory. They describe laying in bed, in too much pain to leave, while a Black Lives Matter protest moved past their window.
During our talks about how we might want the show to look, I read this piece and was really intrigued by the term ‘invisible bodies’ and the possibilities that having so many extra bodies on stage might give us, so here is a homage to Johanna.
